On a miserable and depressing Sunday the dumpsters were due to fight a relegation battle with fellow strugglers Brinkley's in an early afternoon Kick off. The team met as usual outside fortress Clapham. Due to illness they were left without manager Martin 'Allergies' dibble due to a bout of Hay fever and assistant manager Felix 'Pussy' Baker to a groinal infection and questionable broken foot. 'Schoolnight' stepped into the breach with his first comments of 'spal I can smell the alcohol from here' (10 metres away). Following the usual walk and the team bus arrived late and fears grew that we would not make our 4.20 kick off. The team arrived with 5 minutes to spare and noticed a lack of teams at the ground. Brinkley's had obviously heard about our feisty spirit and our winning streak and didn't show giving Dumpsters Part Troix their first league win at a convincing 3-0.
First Half
Due to Brinkley's and Los Cabritos opponents failure to turn up a 'friendly' was organised. UTT took his place between the sticks and with Spal incapacitated in the local WC it was left to The Length, Fraggle, Anal Bead and School Night to start. UTT was in great form in net pulling off some Schmeicalesc saves. Ferret was first to hit the back of the net from a fine Fraggle assist. 2 Goals from Spal and 1 from School Night followed, the latter assisted by a very bad defensive error and dodgy keeping.
Second Half
At 4-1 up at half time the game seemed over but the Dumpsters show boating, cockiness and extremely dodgy keeping replacement Ferret nearly resulted in giving up their lead as Los cabritos came back to 4-4 before School Night ran the length of the pitch taking on all comers and slotting home. The Length scored next to make it 6-4 and the East London striker (Chav) for Los cabritos lost it screaming and shouting at his team mates in rather colourful language. The final word was had by a rasping left foot shot from Fraggle which nearly burst the net (completely mistimed and sliced through the legs of there rather fat incompetent defender.
To The Pub
A poor showing turned out after the match in Dixie's but schoolnight and fraggle sunk into a few pints and to watch the biggest game of the season, Oldham vs Blackpool in the playoff semi-final 1st leg which was deservedly won by the Seasiders 1-2, Oldham's 1 coming from a dubious penalty. Better look in the second leg Fee.
New nicknames have also been discussed for next season, including 'STI', 'Onions' to mention but a few and the possibility of a new manager with John 'Big Sam Allardyce' Dunn in the running with 2 wins and no defeats under his caretaker
managership.
